Plant comparison tool
Compare Houseplants Side by Side
Choose two houseplants to compare their light, watering, humidity, temperature, growth, size, and pet-safety needs. Add a third plant when your shortlist needs one more option.
How to compare houseplants
Start with the conditions you cannot easily change, then compare the care routine and appearance you prefer.
01
Match the available light
Compare plants for the actual window direction and distance from the glass. A decorative corner is not useful if it cannot provide the light the plant needs.
02
Choose a watering rhythm
Look at both watering guidance and soil preference. Plants that need a thorough dry-down suit a different routine from plants that prefer lightly moist soil.
03
Check the practical fit
Compare mature size, growth rate, care level, temperature range, humidity, and pet safety before deciding which plant belongs in your room.
Why compare similar-looking plants?
Common names can make unrelated plants sound similar, while plants in the same family can still differ in size, growth habit, and care. Comparing the botanical name, plant group, and family helps confirm what you are choosing before you rely on a care guide.
For example, Watermelon Peperomia and Peperomia Obtusifolia share a genus but have different leaf forms and growth habits. Rubber Plant cultivars may look closely related to Baby Rubber Plant, yet they belong to different genera and can mature at very different sizes.
Tip: Use the popular comparison cards as a starting point, then replace either plant with a search result to build your own shortlist.
Houseplant Comparison FAQ
How many houseplants can I compare?
You can compare two plants side by side and add an optional third plant. Two plants are usually easier to scan on a phone, while the third slot is useful for a final shortlist.
Can I search by botanical name or another common name?
Yes. The selector can match the main plant name as well as available botanical names, aliases, synonyms, family names, and plant groups stored in the plant profile.
Are the watering intervals exact schedules?
No. Watering information is a comparison guide, not a fixed calendar. Light, season, temperature, pot size, potting mix, and root health all affect how quickly a plant uses water. Check the soil before watering.
Does easy care mean a plant is pet-safe?
No. Care level and pet safety describe different things. Always check the pet-safety row and the full plant profile before placing a plant where cats, dogs, or children can reach it.
